Algona - Camp Algona P.O.W. housed 10,000 German prisoners of war from 1944 to 1946. Learn this story from exhibits and guides. The German POW's also built a Nativity Scene and later gifted it to the City of Algona it can be seen at the Kossuth County Fairgrounds. Highway 169.

Battle Creek - Natural History Museum with 4,000 specimens on display. 600 full-body wildlife mounts. Mounted skeletons of rhinoceros, elephant, giraffe and more. Highway 59.

Cherokee - Planetarium with monthly programs on the seasonal night sky; historical exhibits and temporary exhibits on a variety of subjects. Junction Highway 3 and 59.

Emmetsburg - Sister City to Dublin, Ireland. Kiss a blarney stone, visit a unique Irish gift shop or stop in the 28,000 square foot Wild Rose Casino and Resort for slots, craps, roulette and blackjack. Pub, restaurant and buffet. Highway 18.

Humboldt - Check their events calendar - harness racing, polka fest, arts festival, and July 4th celebrations. Highways 169 and 3.

Ida Grove - You won't want to miss the castle architecture in this community. A local businessman liked the look and built several buildings throughout town. Hiking and Biking trails. Highway 59.

Le Mars - Known as the Ice Cream Capital of the World because Well's Dairy (Blue Bunny) ships more ice cream every day than anywhere else in the world, more than 120 million gallons. Family-friendly visitor center tells the history of ice cream, offers a simulated production exhibit, an interactive computer room…and if you're lucky taste testing…top off your visit in the 1920's style Blue Bunny Ice Cream parlor.
